One of my all-time favorite musicians is back on the scene.
Lotti Golden, dig it!
It turns out, Lotti has been very busy behind the scenes all these years, doing lots of cool stuff.
Read her latest interview

Lotti will soon be on Facebook, and I, for one, can't wait!

ReplyDeleteGroovy! Dig it baby! Let's get back to what was real......I'm on this bike for another ride.
ReplyDeleteLotti Golden was one of the best to come out of her generation... glad that she did an interview and hope to see more news on a Golden resurgence!
ReplyDeleteI have Motor-Cycle on vinyl, but I wish it was re-released in digital so it's more accessible... I hope it will be reissued. Brilliant album!!!

ReplyDeleteWill Golden be performing live?
ReplyDeleteI was going through some of my old vinyls the other day, came across Motor-Cycle, gave it a spin and the memories of that amazing time came flooding back. Decided to get on google and try to find out what ever happened to Lotti Golden, found my answer in the Helmet Hair interview.
ReplyDeleteVery, very pleased to see that Lotti is still active in the music scene. Motor-Cycle is and amazing concept album and it would be a delight to have more Lotti Golden tunes out in the world. This music holds the key to an incredible era, and people need to hear it. There must be many more who feel as I do.
FINALLY! Lotti is back. Wonderful interview, and even more wonderful album. Tremendously influential---I can't imagine why it hasn't yet been re-issued as a cd. People are waiting for it!
ReplyDeleteA great interview with an icon of 1960's music. We'd like more of Lotti---looking forward to the website. Her daring combination of musical genres is unlike most of the female songwriter/performers of the era, and the album is to be treasured as much for the listening quality as well as the history.
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this! great helmet hair read on motor-cycle, cool to hear that lotti is still making music after all these years and still looks fabulous. it's hard to find any of her music online, would be great if we could purchase digitally etc although there's nothing like vinyl.
ReplyDeleteI was completely THRILLED to receive this link in my inbox this morning! Thank you so much for featuring Lotti! She is a true artist and an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am blown away seeing this! I've been hoping I would find an interview with Lotti Golden and here it is! WFMU was supposed to do one with the songtress, but it hasn't happened...yet, anyway. Wow. Lotti looks amazingly gorgeous! I enjoyed the piece, but would like to have Ms. Golden's response about what happened with Atlantic failing to promote her.In her generation she was beautiful, talented, tough, radical and unique. Why wasn't she a star? (Maybe I just answered my own question) but I'd like to hear it from Lotti.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this interview! Lotti Golden is a goddess--the original hippie goddess. I love the 2010 photo of Lotti Golden in the white beret with aviator shades- so cool! All these years later the lady is still an inspiration. I, as the previous poster, would really like to know what went on behind the scenes with "Motor-Cycle"one of the criminally rarest rock masterpieces ever. (Not an exact quote, but something like that was said in Your Heart Out 4.) Atlantic should release "Motor-Cycle" on CD. I would buy it! These labels are lame not utilizing their catalogs. The "new" things aren't always the best things. Golden is the best. Then and now!
ReplyDeleteIt was eye-opening to hear Lotti's music and voice reverberate again. I can't think of a single reason not to give complete access to it for the new generations who groove on the stuff that made life so exciting in Lotti's prime. From the interview, Lotti sounds as though she continues, miraculously, to be in her prime...give the girl her due! Show the world what it was like!
ReplyDeleteLotti's voice is beautiful, soothing, and powerful for the soul. In person, she maintains an exuberant personality and you can just tell that she will "Rock On" forever!
ReplyDeleteLotti Golden's "Motor-Cycle" is an underground treasure of the late
ReplyDelete1960's. Unique in the rock pantheon, this LP is a major contribution
to rock music in addition to providing an invaluable glimpse into the
late 60's counterculture. Hats off to Helmet Hair (no pun) for posting
an intriguing bio and a way overdue interview with Golden herself.
It's about time!
Wait, do you guys know the song "A Lot Like Lucifer?" I saw it on YouTube mixed with some clips from the Grindhouse and it was really sick. I found Lotti Golden's whole album, Motor-Cycle, and was so into it. This chick is awesome. Fer real.
ReplyDeleteMy mom introduced me to Lotti Golden when I was little and I have been listening to her music ever since lol I tell all my friends about her in school and theyre really impressed.
ReplyDeletethis is so cool. i love love love the photo gallery! she is sooo beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLotti's website will soon be up and running, as well as her Facebook page. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYay for Lotti Golden! Great interview! Can't wait for more info to come!
ReplyDeleteGretchen, how did you first here about Lotti?
ReplyDeleteA freind got me hooked on "Motorcycle" back in highschool. (1980)
ReplyDeleteIt has been one of my all-time favorite albums ever since.
Great interview! Lotti Golden is amazing, my mom introduced me to her music when I was a young girl! Would lovvveeee to see her do a show sometime soon
ReplyDeleteThis is truly great. I too was introduced to "Motor-Cycle" by Lotti Golden via a family member--older brother. The music stayed with me all of my life. The stories she told on "Motor-Cycle" about her adventures with the crazy crowd she ran with were so outrageous, I vicariously imagined I was part of it --like being at Warhol's Factory or Max's Kansas City. The hard copy of the album disappeared years ago, but when I saw all the buzz on the Internet about Lotti Golden, I read everything I could get my hands on. I tried to imagine her life...what happened after "Motor-Cycle." I read somewhere that she got into writing and producing and had several hits, including being involved in early rap and hip hop. I wondered also what she would look like now, because I was obsessed with her image on Motor-Cycle. I can't believe how cool she looks! She's so beautiful! The interview is great, but I have so many questions still!
ReplyDeleteYes, there are definitely a lot of things to wonder about.
ReplyDeleteI love the party scenes in her songs.
I can't wait for her follow-up album.
I just found this interview w/Lotti Golden. A fan of MotorCycle. It was great hearing about her career, how she went on to work with so many great artists. Now I'm really addicted. More, more, more!
ReplyDeleteI saw some files online of gorgeous photos of Lotti Golden this week and then they disappeared! More, more, more pictures! I'm hoping her website and wikipedia will be available soon (as is mentioned in her Helmet Hair interview. Peace Gretchen!
ReplyDeleteLotti Golden's Wikipedia article is excellent! So much valuable info! Highly recommend checking it out.
ReplyDeleteHey Gretchen--good job here on letting people in on a secret: "Motor-Cycle" by Lotti Golden is one of the greatest rock albums of all time. In the last decade songs from this 1969 masterpiece were sampled by rapper Madlib, and Mark Everett of the EELs. For those who'd like more info, I'd recommend the review of "Motor-Cycle" from Tiny Mix Tapes (online) and Ms. Golden's Wikipedia entry, posted March, 2011.
ReplyDeleteCheck out a great photo of Lotti Golden in a new rock photojournalism book, "The Rolling Stone Years." See book review @ http://musicindustrynewswire.com/2011/12/22/min4855_152253.php
ReplyDeleteCheck out Galactic Ramble. It contains really cool info with pix re: Lotti Golden & "Motor-Cycle." Also, is looks like High Moon Records (re-issue label) will be releasing "Motor-Cycle." I look forward to it. Some of Ms. Golden's songs from the LP were removed from YouTube due to copyright infringement, so I need, underline need, this CD!
